TVS leads electric 2W market in first-half December, industry sales cross 1.2 million in CY2025

The first fortnight of the last month of CY2025 has seen the Indian electric 2-wheeler industry cross the 1.2 million units mark for the first time. At 47,205 e-scooters, e-motorcycles and e-mopeds delivered, the retail sales in the past 15 days are somewhat slow though compared to the past couple of months, which can be attributed to new e-2W buyers delaying their purchase to the new year 2026.

Nevertheless, with 16 days still left to go before CY2025 turns into CY2026, this December could yet turn out to be the best year-ending month for the e-2W industry, beating the previous best (December 2023: 75,950 units). The gap at present is 28,745 units, which should be surpassed in the last week of the month.

Meanwhile, cumulative sales from January 1 to December 15 at 12,29,356 units are up 7% YoY, pointing the industry towards total CY2025 sales of a record 1.25 million units.

The Indian e-2W industry is headed for record annual retail sales of over 1.25 million units in CY2025.

TVS Motor Co, which wrested back the No. 1 e-2W OEM title from Bajaj Auto in November, maintains its numero uno position with 13,297 units. It is the only e-2W manufacturer to have sold in excess of 10,000 units and is ahead of Bajaj Auto by 3,773 units. While the iQube remains its main sales force, the company has begun the phased rollout of the new Orbiter e-scooter. Priced at Rs 99,900 (ex-showroom Bengaluru), inclusive of PM E-Drive Scheme subsidies, Orbiter sales have commenced in Karnataka and the company is now expanding into Maharashtra. This pricing places the Orbiter — which has a 3.1 kWh battery pack — on par with the base iQube variant that features a smaller 2.2 kWh battery pack. The Orbiter, which has a top speed of 68kph, is designed for urban commuting and has an IDC range of 158 km per charge.

Bajaj Auto has delivered 9,524 Chetaks to new buyers in the December 1-15 period. The company, which currently sells the Chetak and Yulu e-scooters is readying the launch of a brand-new model early in CY2026, which could mean potential Chetak buyers would be awaiting that model. Bajaj Auto continues to expand its Chetak network, which now stands at 390 exclusive stores and 4,000 points of sale in 800 cities.

Ather Energy, which has made the No. 3 position its very own has retailed 8,376 e-scooters in the past fortnight. This puts it 1,148 units behind Bajaj Auto. The e-2W start-up, which is fast reducing the sales gap with the Puune-based legacy OEMs, continues to witness surging demand for its Rizta family scooter, which recently surpassed cumulative sales of 200,000 units and accounts for 70% of monthly volumes which include the 450X or 450S models. The company has reported strong sales traction for the high-range (160km) options on the 450S and Rizta S, which has helped expand sales and market share. What’s more, the Battery as a Service (BaaS) option has enabled a reduction of the upfront price of the Rizta S to Rs 76,000, making the premium family scooter far more affordable.

Hero MotoCorp, which outsold Ola Electric for the first time in November to take the No. 4 position, has delivered 5,418 units. The world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer continues to be an EV newsmaker as a result of the robust demand for its new Vida VX2 model. The company looks set to exceed the 10,000-units mark in December, which will make for six straight months of 10,000-plus e-scooter sales for Hero MotoCorp and its Vida e-2W brand including the highest in October 2025 (16,014 units).

Ola Electric, as in November. is currently ranked No. 5 with retail sales of 3,079 units in the December 1-15 period. Clearly, Ola Electric will have to come up with an aggressive sales and product strategy if it is to regain the vigour and shine it had displayed not very long ago as the e-2W market leader. Earlier this month, the company began deliveries of vehicles equipped with its indigenously manufactured 4680 Bharat Cell battery packs. The S1 Pro+ scooter with a 5.2kWh battery is the first product to use these domestically produced cells, making Ola Electric the first Indian company to control both cell and battery pack manufacturing internally.

Greaves Electric Mobility (GEM), the EV arm of Greaves Cotton which markets the Ampere brand of e-scooters, remains the firm No. 6 on the OEM ranking list with retails of 1,939 units. GEM and Ampere Vehicles, which are witnessing a revival of demand driven by new products like the Nexus, Magnus Neo and the Grand, recently surpassed cumulative retail sales of 250,000 units.

Bgauss Auto, a Mumbai-based startup spawned by electrical solutions major RR Kabel, is ranked seventh amongst the Top 10 e-2W OEMs with 894 units of the RUV 350 and Max C12. Bengaluru-based River Mobility, now rebranded River EV, which has a single product – the River Indie – is now a regular fixture in the Top 10 e-2W listing. It gets eighth rank with 857 units.

Quantum Energy, which has recently partnered with battery swapping solutions provider Indofast Energy to power its new Bziness XS electric scooter, takes ninth position with 375 units, and electric motorcycle maker Revolt Motors wraps up the Top 10 list for the December 1-15 period with 298 units.

TVS Apache Rules 150-200cc Segment, Set for Record Sales of 550,000 in FY2026

TVS Motor Co is witnessing a strong FY2026 and its cumulative 8-month two-wheeler wholesales comprising scooters, motorcycles and mopeds at 2.79 million units (27,92,046) are up 15% YoY (April-November 2024: 24,36,596 units). While TVS scooter sales (1.48 million units) are up 24% YoY and account for a 53% share, motorcycles (969,092 units) are up 11% YoY and have a 35% share. The humble TVS moped has sold 337,213 units and contributed to a 12% share of TVS’ overall two-wheeler sales.

In FY2025, TVS sold 1.20 million motorcycles, down 1.59% YoY (FY2024: 1.22 million units). In the first 8 months of FY2026, the Chennai-based two-wheeler OEM has dispatched (wholesales) 969,092 motorcycles which marks 11% YoY growth (April-November 2024: 876,306 units) and includes best-ever monthly sales of 167,617 units in festive and GST 2.0-driven October 2025.

The last 8 months’ bike sales translate into average monthly sales of 121,365 units. TVS needs to sell another 254,747 bikes between December 2025 and March 2026 if it is to surpass its best-ever motorcycle sales of 12,23,838 units of FY2024.

Apache brand bike sales of 382,431 units have contributed 39% to TVS Motor Co's total motorcycle dispatches of 969,092 million units in the first eight months of FY2025.

APACHE SERIES RIDING TOWARDS RECORD 550,000 SALES IN FY2026
TVS Motor’s motorcycle sales growth in the current fiscal is because of the robust customer demand for the Apache series in the 150-200cc segment wherein it continues to lead the market. The TVS Apache brand comprises four models of the Apache RTR Series – RTR 160, RTR 160 4V, RTR 180 and RTR 200. With total wholesales of 382,431 units between April and November 225, this lot of Apache bikes has clocked 24% YoY growth (April-November 2024: 308,654 units). The Apache is also available in the higher RTR 310 and RR 310 avatars along with the recently launched RTX 300 adventure bike which aims to make premium touring and off-road riding more accessible to Indian riders.

December 2025 will see the Apache brand cross the 400,000-units wholesales mark for the third time in its 20-year innings. It had missed the mark in FY2018 (399,035 units) by just 965 units. Launched in 2005, the Apache first rode past 400,000 units in FY2019 (465,322 units, up 16.61% YoY). Sales were impacted in subsequent fiscals, mainly due to the dampened demand due to the Covid-19 pandemic (see 12-fiscal-year data table above).

In the current fiscal’s first eight months, the Apache has averaged monthly sales of 47,803 units, pumped up by the record October 2025’s 61,619 units. The lowest monthly score in April-November 2025 was the 37,566 units in July. While December 2025 sales could be somewhat muted due to buyers delaying purchase to the new year, demand should again be robust in Q4 FY2026 (January-March 2026). If one adds an estimated cumulative 180,000 units for the next four months, the Apache 150-200cc bikes should go on to hit a new fiscal year high of 525,000 to 550,000 units, which translates into 23% YoY growth at the higher end.

The TVS Apache remains the company’s best-selling motorcycle in FY2026. In the first 8 months of this fiscal, it has a 39% share of TVS’ total motorcycle sales and is ahead of its sibling TVS Raider (294,546 units, down 0.44% YoY, 30% share). In FY2024, the Apache (378,072 units) had lost the title of TVS No. 1 bike to the Raider (478,443 units) but wrested it back in FY2025 (446,218 units).

While the 150-200cc segment has posted strong 23% growth in April-November 2025, the TVS Apache commands a 39% segment share with Bajaj Auto in second place with a 23% share.

TVS APACHE REMAINS BEST-SELLING BRAND IN 150-200cc CATEGORY
The TVS Apache’s robust sales have energised the overall 150-200cc segment which comprises seven motorcycle manufacturers, helping it ride into positive territory. In FY2025, this bike category had sold 1.09 million units, down 9% on FY2024’s 1.21 million units.

Now, after the first eight months of FY2026, the 986,629 units constitute a strong 23% YoY increase (April-November 2024: 802,930 units) as a result of strong double-digit growth from bikes made by TVS, Bajaj Auto, Honda and Hero MotoCorp.

FADA’s outlook for the coming months of FY2026 remains firmly positive, supported by sustained momentum from GST 2.0 tax rationalisation, strong enquiry pipelines, and improving rural economic indicators as 74% of dealers expect growth underscoring broad-based confidence across segments. What augurs well for two-wheeler OEMs is good signs of volume recovery across the rural two-wheeler market, driven by GST 2.0 rate cuts, and sustained OEM-dealer offers along with the ongoing marriage season.

Segment leader TVS Motor Co is well positioned to capture demand in this category with its four Apaches – the RTR 160, RTR 165, RTR 180 and RTR 200 – each catering to a different buyer, thereby widening the target audience. The Apache bikes’ pricing (ex-showroom Mumbai) starts at Rs 101,890 for the RTR 160 2V (down from pre-GST 2.0’s Rs 120,400), rises to Rs 125,590 for the RTR 180 and Rs 141,990 for the top-end RTR 200 4V.

The Apache 150-200cc series bikes have also witnessed strong demand in export markets – the 97,767 units shipped overseas in the past eight months make for a strong 32% YoY increase albeit that calls for a new report. Stay tuned in as we bring you the latest number-crunching news and sales analyses.

Scooter Sales Cross 5 Million in April-November, EVs help TVS, Hero, Ather Grow Market Share

With 1.94 million scooters, motorcycles and mopeds sold last month, November 2025 turned out to be the best-ever November for the Indian two-wheeler industry. While motorcycles (1.16 million units, up 17% YoY) continue to command the bulk of 2W sales, the share of scooters (735,753 units, up 29% YoY) has risen while that of bikes has fallen. In November 2025, the scooter share of the overall 2W market rose to 38% compared to 35% in November 2025, while that of motorcycles fell to 60% from 62% in November 2025. The humble mopeds accounts for the remaining minuscule share.

Cumulative sales for the first 8 months of FY2026 also paint the same picture. Of the 14.39 two-wheelers sold in April-November 2025, up 3% YoY, the motorcycle share (8.73 million units) is 61% versus 63% in the year-ago period. Meanwhile, the scooter share (5.28 million units) has risen to 37% versus 34% in April-November 2024.

SIAM wholesales data also reveals that 663,850 electric 2Ws were sold in April-November 2025, up 32% YoY (April-November 2024: 502,165 units) translating into the EV share of the overall scooter market increasing to 13% from 10% a year ago. Of the nine SIAM scooter member companies, Piaggio and Yamaha are the only ones without an EV.

Of the nine scooters OEMs, only TVS Motor Co, Hero MotoCorp and Ather Energy have increased their market share with their electric scooters providing a growth accelerator.

HONDA SHARE REDUCES TO 40%, TVS SHARE INCREASES TO 28%

A deep dive into the wholesales performance of the nine scooter OEMs for the past eight months reveals that five – TVS, Suzuki, Hero MotoCorp, Bajaj Auto and Ather – have registered YoY growth while Honda, Yamaha, Piaggio and Okinawa have seen a YoY decline (see SIAM data table above).

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India, the longstanding monarch of the scooter market, has sold 2.09 million units, which marks a 1% YoY decline. This comprises 20,87,851 units of the Activa, Dio and Dio 125 (down 1% YoY) and 2,539 units of the Activa-e and QC1 electric scooters. As a result of having dispatched 27,978 fewer scooters YoY, HMSI’s market share has reduced to 40% from 44% a year ago.

No. 2 scooter OEM TVS Motor Co has increased its market share to 28% from 25% a year ago. This is the result of dispatching 1.48 million units, up 24% YoY and 283,547 units more than it did a year ago. This total comprises 12,67,788 units of the Jupiter, NTorq and Zest ICE scooters (up 24% YoY) and 217,953 iQube e-scooters, up 23% YoY. The EV share of TVS’ scooter sales has however fallen to 15% from 17% a year ago, what with the substantially increased ICE scooter volume.

Suzuki Motorcycle India, which sells scooters in the form of the 124cc Access, Avenis and Burgman and has revealed the electric avatar of the Access (whose sales have yet to commence), has sold 759,774 ICE scooters in the past eight months. While this marks good 11% YoY growth, Suzuki’s market share remains unchanged at 14 percent.

Hero MotoCorp has increased its scooter market share to 7% from 5% a year ago as a result of dispatching 360,838 units, a strong 42% YoY increase from an additional 105,948 units. This total comprises 269,437 units of the Destini, Maestro and Pleasure, 1,704Xooms and 89,697 Vida e-scooters. While the ICE scooters have posted a 25% YoY increase, the zero-emission Vida V2 and V2X have clocked handsome 178% YoY growth, thereby contributing to the company’s increased scooter market share.

India Yamaha Motor, ranked fifth on the OEM scale with 210,170 units, is down 4% YoY and witnesses a resultant drop in its scooter share to 4% from 5% a year ago.

Bajaj Auto, which is in the scooter market because of its Chetak and Yulu electricscooters, dispatched 194,148 units, up 5% YoY, albeit its 4% scooter market share remains unchanged.

Ather Energy continues to ride a wave of demand for its Rizta family scooter, which recently surpassed cumulative sales of 200,000 units in a little over 20 months since launch in July 2024. The company, which also sells the 450S and 450X e-scooters, has registered total wholesales of 159,440 units, up 62% YoY. This gives Ather a 3% scooter market share versus 2% a year ago.

Italian scooter maker Piaggio Vehicles, with 20,891 units, posted a 2% YoY decline, which sees its market share reduce to 0.39% from 0.44% a year ago.

SCOOTER INDUSTRY HEADED FOR RECORD 7 MILLION SALES IN FY2026

Eight months into the current fiscal year, at 5.28 million units, the segment is 1.57 million units away from the record FY2025 total. Given the current strong and sustained growth, and having averaged monthly sales of 660,183 units, this segment is well set to achieve the 7 million sales mark for the first time in FY2026.

VIDA Launches DIRT.E K3 E-Motorcycle at Rs 69,990

VIDA, Hero MotoCorp's emerging mobility brand, launched the DIRT.E K3, an electric motorcycle designed for young riders aged 4-10 years, at an introductory price of Rs 69,990 for the first 300 units, with expressions of interest opening today on vidaworld.com and retail commencing from January 15, 2026.

The motorcycle features a three-stage adjustable system that transforms across small, medium, and large configurations using a single tool, addressing the issue of quickly outgrown youth motorcycles. The size-adaptive platform maintains consistent ergonomics across multiple years of growth.

"When we created VIDA, our purpose was to reimagine the Future of Mobility for a new generation—mobility that is clean, connected and deeply conscious. VIDA has always been about more than electric vehicles; it is about inspiring transformative journeys and enabling people to experience freedom in a responsible and progressive way. With the DIRT.E line up, we extend this purpose into the world of off-road exploration. DIRT.E K3 gives young riders the right beginning on two wheels — a space where confidence grows naturally, skills develop intuitively, and early experiences with mobility become joyful, safe, and sustainable. As they gain height, courage, and curiosity, the product grows with them, empowering a continuous sense of progression. Through VIDA and the DIRT.E Series, we are placing the Future of Mobility in the hands of the next generation of riders, explorers and innovators. It is a commitment to nurturing their potential and shaping a world where mobility is synonymous with possibility," said Dr. Pawan Munjal, Executive Chairman, Hero MotoCorp.

The DIRT.E K3 is powered by a 350W continuous/500W peak motor paired with a 360Wh removable battery that charges from 0-100% in approximately three hours and offers up to three hours of riding time depending on terrain and mode. The battery features a magnetic connector and sealed enclosure for dust and moisture protection.

Three ride modes support progressive learning: Beginner at 8 km/h, Amateur at 16 km/h, and Pro at 25 km/h. Parents can manage speed limits, lock riding modes, and provide oversight through app-enabled controls.

The motorcycle features a 16-inch spoked wheel, single rear hydraulic disc brake, and adjustable frame that scales by varying height and wheelbase. Safety features include an over-molded wiring harness, child-scaled brake lever, impact-absorbing components, and a magnetic lanyard-based kill switch that cuts power if the rider is separated from the motorcycle.

The DIRT.E K3 will be available in three colors: Red, Purple, and White. First-phase deliveries will be available at select outlets in five cities: Delhi, Bengaluru, Pune, Jaipur, and Calicut.

The DIRT.E K3 was conceptualized, designed, and developed at Hero Tech Centre Germany and the Centre of Innovation and Technology in Jaipur. Production will take place at the manufacturing facility in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, which houses the VIDA electric vehicle line.

"DIRT.E K3 represents a new beginning in how young riders engage with motorcycling. Our goal was to design a product that adapts as they grow, enabling confident, responsible and joyful exploration. DIRT.E is the first step in building a thoughtfully crafted ecosystem that nurtures riders from the earliest stages through a platform that is safe, progressive and deeply connected to the outdoors," said Kausalya Nandakumar, Chief Business Officer, Emerging Mobility Business Unit, Hero MotoCorp.

The motorcycle has received the Red Dot Design Award 2025 and CES Innovation Award Honoree 2026.

River Mobility Reaches 20,000 Indie Scooter Production Milestone

River Mobility has rolled out its 20,000th Indie electric scooter from its Hoskote manufacturing facility in Karnataka, marking a significant production milestone for the Bengaluru-based company.

The achievement comes just six months after the company crossed the 10,000-unit mark, representing accelerated production driven by increasing demand and an expanding dealer network. River reached this milestone within two years of its launch.

The company has recently expanded its retail presence into several new states, including Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, and Maharashtra. River launched the Indie Gen 3, the latest version of its flagship scooter model, and opened a company-owned store in Delhi as part of its North India expansion strategy.

"Achieving the 20,000-Indie milestone in just under two years is a clear sign that our customers see value in what we're building, and it reflects the trust our dealer principals have placed in us," said Aravind Mani, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of River Mobility. "As we expand to more cities and scale up production at our factory, we remain committed to improving the experience for every rider."

The company currently operates close to 40 stores and has established a strong presence in South Indian cities including Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi, and Coimbatore. River plans to enter Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and Gujarat as part of its continued retail expansion.

River's Hoskote facility features production processes designed for scalability, positioning the company to support its near-term retail expansion plans. The manufacturer has announced plans to introduce new products and significantly increase production capacity to meet growing demand from urban riders.

Founded in March 2021 by Aravind Mani and Vipin George, River Mobility is backed by investors including Yamaha Motor Corporation, Mitsui & Co. Ltd, Marubeni Corporation, Al Futtaim Group, Lowercarbon Capital, Toyota Ventures, Maniv Mobility, and Trucks VC.

Hero Vida Races Past 100,000 Sales in a Year for the First Time

As per the latest retail sales numbers on the Vahan portal, between January 1 and December 5, a total of 100,383 Vida e-scooters were delivered to customers. Also, total sales of Hero Vida e-scooters have crossed 150,000 units since launch in October 2022.

While total sales since the company’s e-2W market entry in November 2022 till December 2024 were 55,033 units, the first 11 months and five days of CY2025 have seen deliveries of 100,383 units or 65% of total sales of 155,416 Vida e-scooters to date.

While CY2025 opened on a tepid note with 1,626 units in January, monthly sales crossed 6,000 units for four straight months (March-June) and then crossed the 10,000-units mark for the first time in July (10,548 units) and maintained that momentum for five straight months.

October (16,017 units) saw the highest number of Hero Vidas sold in the domestic market (see 11-month data table below). This month’s first five days have seen registrations of 1,984 e-scooters for Hero MotoCorp.

The company’s robust performance in a competitive market is amply reflected in the monthly Top 10 e-2W OEM listing where it has been a consistent entry this year.
Hero MotoCorp has achieved the 100,000-unit annual sales milestone for the first time since it launched the Vida brand in October 2022.

HERO VIDA’S CURRENT MARKET SHARE: 8%

Hero MotoCorp’s 100,383 units in this year to date (up 135% YoY) give it a e-2W market share of 8% from the 1.19 million electric two-wheelers sold in India. The four OEMs ahead of it are market leader TVS (278,596 units, 23% share), Bajaj Auto (254,629 Chetaks, 21% share), Ola Electric (191,384 units, 16% share), and Ather Energy (186,664 units, 15% share). These are the only five OEMs from the 230 players to have sold over 100,000 units each in the current calendar year. The next highest sales belong to No. 5 OEM, Greaves Electric Mobility (52,441 units).

The launch of the VX2 model in July 2025 has delivered accelerated growth for the Hero Vida brand which also has the V2 model in its portfolio.

The strong growth for Hero MotoCorp is the result of two new products, the Vida V2 launched in December 2024 and the Vida VX2 which was introduced in July 2025. The V2 is essentially an evolution of the V1 range that the company began its e-mobility journey a little over three years ago. The Vida V2 with 3.4 kWh battery is available in two variants: Plus (Rs 104,800, 143km range, 85kph top speed) and Pro (Rs 140,300, 165km range, 90kph top speed).

The growth accelerator though has been the new Vida VX2 in July. The base VX2 Go variant, which has a starting price of Rs 73,850, sees its cost sticker drop to an e-2W-rival-worrying price of Rs 44,990 under the Battery-as-a-Service option. The V2X Plus costs Rs 57,990 with BaaS and Rs 94,800 without it.

What differentiates the VX2 Go from the Plus is the removable battery capacity – while the Go has a single removable battery with 2.2kWh and 92km range, the Plus has two batteries with 3.4kWh which deliver 142km range, similar to the Vida V2 Pro. The removable batteries can be charged directly inside the e-scooter or removed and charged indoors. The VX2 can also be juiced up at 4,600 fast-charging stations including the 4,000-strong Ather Grid fast charging network across India.

The VX2’s electric motor develops the same 6kW peak power and 3.9 continuous power and 25 Nm torque as its Vida V2 sibling. While the VX2 Plus goes from 0-40kph in 3.1sec and has a top speed of 80kph, the Go variant accelerates from 0-40kph in 4.2sec and has a top speed of 70kph.

On November 10, Hero MotoCorp expanded the VX2 Go portfolio with a new 3.4kWh battery variant priced at Rs 84,800 (ex-showroom) and Rs 60,000 with the BaaS option. Previously, the VX2 Go was offered only with a 2.2kWh battery, while the larger 3.4kWh unit was exclusive to the VX2 Plus. While the new 3.4kWh variant with dual removable battery system shares its features and hardware with the smaller-capacity version, it delivers a real-world range of 100km on a single charge – 36km more than the 64km range of the smaller-battery version.

Bajaj Auto Launches Pulsar N160 Variant with Gold USD Forks and Single Seat

Bajaj Auto has introduced a new variant of its Pulsar N160 motorcycle, featuring gold USD (upside-down) forks and a single-seat configuration. The variant is priced at ₹1,23,983 (ex-showroom Delhi) and is now available at dealerships across India.

The latest addition to the Pulsar N series combines enhanced comfort with improved riding dynamics, addressing customer demand for a single-seat option without sacrificing the precision and control that USD forks provide. The motorcycle is available in four colors: Pearl Metallic White, Racing Red, Polar Sky Blue, and Black.

According to Bajaj Auto, the decision to develop this variant stemmed from customer research conducted after the original Pulsar N160 launch with a split seat. The company found that a significant number of N160 buyers were families who preferred a single-seat configuration while still wanting premium hardware features.

"The new Pulsar N160 with gold USD forks and a single seat has been developed from customer insights and our commitment to the evolving needs of the industry," said Sarang Kanade, President of MCBU at Bajaj Auto Ltd. He added that the upgrade delivers enhanced comfort with a premium stance while maintaining the N series' core attributes of power, precision, and control.

The Pulsar brand has established itself as India's leading performance motorcycle brand, with Bajaj Auto being the country's number one motorcycle exporter. The company has sold over 21 million motorcycles across more than 100 countries and holds the distinction of being the world's most valuable two-wheeler and three-wheeler manufacturer, with a market capitalization exceeding ₹2 trillion.

The new variant aims to strengthen Pulsar's position in the market while catering to riders who seek a balance between premium features, everyday practicality, and sporty aesthetics.

That’s not all.

As the Vahan retail sales data table below depicts, last month’s sales have enabled River Mobility to surpass cumulative sales of 15,000 units. From October 2023 till end-November, the e-2W startup has sold a total of 16,041 River Indies. With 13,434 units sold in the past 11 months, River Mobility should easily surpass calendar-year sales of 15,000-plus Indies for the first time this year.

River Indie sales crossed 1,000 units a month for the first time in June 2025 and have accelerated since then with the highest yet – 1,801 units – coming this November.

The growing sales are also a result of the expanding sales and service network. River Mobility strategically focused on setting up its retail operations initially in southern and western India, both of which are the leading buyers of e-2Ws, before expanding operations to other parts of India. Northern India is the new regional focus and November 14 saw the opening of a new outlet in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The Jaipur store follows River’s recent entry into Delhi, Indore and Patna, strengthening the brand's nationwide expansion. With 37 stores now operational across the country, including in Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi, Coimbatore, and Hubli, River Mobility states that it is on track to scale up to over 100 touchpoints across the country by CY2026 through a mix of company-owned stores and partnerships.

Retail sales of the River Indie have risen after the refreshed model was introduced. Key products highlights include 14-inch alloy wheels, telescopic suspension and twin hydraulic rear suspension.

REFRESHED INDIE DELIVERS NEW SALES CHARGE
The first River Indie rolled out of the company’s modern manufacturing plant in Hoskote, Karnataka, on August 25, 2023. The facility, which has automated assembly lines for battery pack and vehicle assembly, is spread over 120,000 square feet and has a production capacity of 100,000 units per annum.

Somewhat radical looking compared to nearly all the e-scooters sold in India, the River Indie is a head-turner which ticks most of the boxes for a two-wheeled EV. Priced at Rs 146,399 (ex-showroom Bengaluru), this single-variant model is available in four colours: Monsoon Blue, Spring Yellow, Storm Grey and Summer Red.

Designed for both urban commutes and short weekend trips, the River Indie scooter, which uses a 4 kWh NMC battery pack, develops peak power of 6.7 kW (9hp) and 26 Nm torque. The 0-40kph sprint takes 3.7 seconds and top speed is 90kph. River Mobility claims the Indie has an IDC range of 163 kilometres on a single charge, with a 0-80% charge taking five hours.

Demand for the Indie in all of CY2024 was tepid, with the highest monthly sales being the 370 units in October 2024. In November 2024, just over a year after production began, River Mobility introduced an updated version featuring a single-speed gearbox with a chain drive, a first in its segment. The upgrade was essentially to enhance durability and reduce ownership costs. The refreshed Indie’s pricing though is higher compared to the original model’s Rs 125,000 at launch.

Other product highlights include lockable storage capacity of 55 litres – 12 litres in the glovebox and a cavernous 43 litres under the seat (biggest for an e-scooter in India), front footpegs and 14-inch wheels to improve manoeuvrability and riding comfort. Like the first model, the updated zero-emission Indie has three riding modes — Eco, Ride, and Rush.

River Indie-based Yamaha EC-06 (left), revealed at EICMA 2025, first product to emerge from the collaboration between Yamaha and River Mobility, which will manufacture the model at its Hoskote plant.

RIVER INDIE EMPOWERS YAMAHA EC-O6, WINS TWO RED DOT DESIGN AWARDS

Last month at EICMA 2025 in Milan, Yamaha Motor Co took the covers off two new electric scooters for the India market – the EC-O6 and the Aerox E, the electric avatar of the Yamaha Aerox already on sale in India.

River Mobility, in which Yamaha invested in January 2024 as a strategic move to have a footprint in India’s fast-growing e-2W market, has a strong connect with the Yamaha EC-06 which is based on the same platform as the River Indie albeit with some key differences. The EC-06 essentially is a joint development project between Yamaha’s engineering teams in Japan, the US, and Europe, and the River Mobility team in Bengaluru. This Yamaha EV will roll out of River’s manufacturing plant in Hoskote, Karnataka which has ample manufacturing capacity. While Yamaha retains product ownership, River has been entrusted with full execution responsibilities — from R&D and battery integration to engineering and manufacturing.

Meanwhile, another form of global recognition has come the River Indie’s way recently. Last month, the conceptualised-and-designed-in-India Indie won the prestigious Red Dot Product Design Award 2025. The product had already won the Red Dot Design Concept Award 2024, making it the only Indian two-wheeler brand to bag both Concept and Product Design awards.

Lilypad to Deploy 1,000 Electric Two-Wheelers in Noida by Mid-2026

Lilypad, an electric vehicle marketplace and fleet operator, has announced plans to deploy 1,000 electric two-wheelers for last-mile delivery operations in Noida by the second quarter of 2026.

The expansion is supported by high net-worth individuals and private investors, with the company committing ₹50 lakh in internal capital. Lilypad has secured a funding pipeline of approximately ₹2.5 crore to achieve its deployment target over the next seven to eight months.

The rollout will begin this month with an initial batch of 150 vehicles, followed by quarterly additions of 250 electric two-wheelers. The company has formed strategic partnerships with Battery Smart, original equipment manufacturers, and delivery aggregators including Swiggy and Blinkit to support the initiative.

"Last-mile delivery has been one of the strongest drivers of India's EV adoption over the last five years," said Prateek Darolia, Lilypad's B2B Lead. He added that the company aims to build the infrastructure and fleet capabilities needed to support gig workers and create a more efficient urban mobility system.

The electric vehicles will be equipped with IoT tracking, real-time telematics, geofencing, and remote immobilization features. Lilypad will provide servicing, maintenance, and roadside assistance throughout the Noida region, with plans to expand to Delhi and Gurgaon.

According to the company's projections, the electric fleet could help reduce up to 1,000 metric tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually. Gig riders transitioning from 125cc petrol vehicles to electric two-wheelers are expected to see operating costs decrease by up to 30%, potentially improving their monthly earnings.

The initiative is projected to create more than 150 direct jobs in fleet operations, service, and logistics, while providing sustainable income opportunities for over 1,000 gig workers through delivery platform partnerships.

Lilypad focuses on providing service-backed electric fleets for gig workers and delivery platforms, working with OEMs, battery-swap networks, and aggregators to deliver electrification solutions for urban mobility.

Hero MotoCorp Posts 31% Growth in November Amid Festive Demand

Hero MotoCorp reported a 31% year-on-year growth in dispatches for November 2025, with 604,490 units shipped during the month.

The New Delhi-based company attributed the strong performance to sustained festive momentum and positive consumer sentiment across both urban and rural markets. VAHAN registrations showed 886,330 units recorded in November 2025, while the combined October-November period saw registrations grow 26% to 1,882,739 units.

The company's performance was bolstered by the success of recently launched models including the Xtreme 125R, GlamourX 125, Destini 110, and Xoom 160. These new offerings received strong customer acceptance and contributed to increased dealership footfalls and higher consumer interest across both premium and commuter segments.

Hero MotoCorp's domestic operations accounted for 570,520 units, while exports reached 33,970 units, marking a 70% increase compared to November 2024. International demand was particularly strong in Latin America and Africa, with models such as the Hunk 125R, Hunk 160R, and Eco Series driving sales volumes.

The company's electric vehicle subsidiary, VIDA, recorded 12,199 VAHAN registrations in November, reflecting 66% year-on-year growth. VIDA captured a 10.4% market share in the electric two-wheeler segment, with the VIDA Evooter VX2 continuing to drive retail performance. The company recently expanded the VX2 lineup with a new 3.4 kWh variant.

For the year-to-date period ending November 2025, Hero MotoCorp has dispatched 4,298,070 units, compared to 4,193,736 units in the same period last year. Motorcycle dispatches totaled 3,912,147 units, while scooters accounted for 385,923 units.

The company cited GST benefits, favorable macroeconomic conditions, and a revival in rural ownership and spending as factors supporting the two-wheeler market's healthy performance during the month.

Ltd. (SMIPL) sold 1,22,300 units in November 2025, representing a 30% increase compared to 94,370 units sold in the same month last year.

The two-wheeler subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corporation, Japan, reported domestic sales of 96,360 units for November 2025, a 23% increase over the 78,333 units sold in November 2024. Export volumes reached 25,940 units, up 62% from 16,037 units in the previous year.

The company's November 2025 performance showed growth across both domestic and international markets:

Total sales: 1,22,300 units (up from 94,370 units)

Domestic sales: 96,360 units (up from 78,333 units)

In November 2025, SMIPL organized the V-Strom SX Experience Day in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, and Surat, Gujarat. The program allowed over 500 motorcycle enthusiasts to test the V-Strom SX model's handling, comfort, stability, and suspension capabilities in conditions beyond standard test rides.

Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Limited began operations in India in February 2006 at its manufacturing facility in Kherki Daula, Gurugram, Haryana. The plant has an annual production capacity of 1.3 million units and manufactures 125cc scooters, premium motorcycles of 150cc and above, and larger displacement motorcycles for the Indian market.

As per Vahan retail sales statistics, TVS sold 30,309 units in November, which constitutes 4,783 additional e-scooters than Bajaj Auto (25,526 Chetaks). TVS’ lead in the first fortnight of November was 1,627 units, which means its sales momentum was stronger in the second half of last month.

The Indian e-2W industry delivered a total of 116,849 zero-emission scooters, motorcycles and mopeds last month, down 3% YoY (November 2024: 119,996 units), which is 27,776 fewer units than the record 144,625 electric 2Ws sold in the festive month of October. Nevertheless, November 2025 retails are still the second highest monthly sales in the calendar year to date, and take cumulative 11-month calendar year sales to 1.18 million units, up 10% YoY (January-November 2024: 1.07 million units).

November 2025 retail sales of 116,849 e-2Ws are the second highest monthly sales in the year to date.

TVS Motor Co’s 30,309 e-scooter sales in November, up 11% YoY, are its second-best monthly sales this year after March (30,772 units) and the third time that its monthly sales have crossed the 30,000-units mark since it entered the market with the iQube in January 2020. October 2024 (30,240 units) is the second highest monthly score. November sales give TVS a 26% e-2W market share for November 2025. With this performance, TVS has topped e-2W sales for the seventh time this year – it had a straight run at the top right from April to September, lost the crown in October and has now regained it in November.

What would have given a fillip to sales last month is the phased rollout of the new Orbiter e-scooter.

TVS is also aiming for a first-mover advantage for e-2Ws in rural India. Speaking in an earnings call after the Q2 FY2026 results, KN Radhakrishnan, CEO, TVS Motor Co said: “I'm very sure GST reform is going to help rural (India) and (road) connectivity. I believe that for mobility needs in India, which has a lot of self-employed people, the two-wheeler is the best mobility solution. And rural is the most important driver. I'm very confident that rural will start growing in line with urban.”

Bajaj Auto, whose monthly retail sales crossed the 30,000-units mark for the first time in October 2025 (31,392 units) and helped it top the market, has registered retail sales of 25,526 units in November, down 3% YoY (November 2024: 26,419 units). This gives the Chetak manufacturer a share of 22% and helps it surpass the 250,000 units cumulative sales milestone for the first time in a calendar year. The company, which currently sells the Chetak and Yulu e-scooters is readying the launch of a brand-new model early in CY2026, which could mean potential Chetak buyers would be awaiting that model. Bajaj Auto continues to expand its Chetak network which now stands at 390 exclusive stores and 4,000 points of sale in 800 cities.

Ather Energy, which has made the No. 3 position its very own and clocked its highest monthly sales of 28,405 units in October, has sold 20,323 e-scooters in November, a robust 57% YoY growth (November 2024: 12,963 units). This puts it 9,986 e-2Ws behind TVS and 5,203 units behind Bajaj Auto. The e-2W start-up, which is fast reducing the sales gap with the two legacy OEMs, continues to witness surging demand for its Rizta family scooter, far more than that for the 450X or 450S models.

The standout news of November has been Hero MotoCorp’s Vida brand rising to No. 4 position, ahead of Ola Electric. As per Vahan data, the company has delivered a total of 12,199 Vida e-scooters last month, up 66% YoY (November 2024: 7,352 units). This is 3,799 units more than Ola Electric (8,400 units), which gives Hero Vida a 10% market share – 3% more than Ola’s 7% in November 2025. The world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer continues to be an EV newsmaker as a result of the robust demand for its new Vida VX2 model. Though October 2025 (16,014 units) remains its highest monthly sales yet, November marks five consecutive months of 10,000-plus e-scooter sales for Hero MotoCorp and its Vida e-2W brand.

Ola Electric, with retail sales of 8,400 units in November, down sharply by 71% YoY (November 2024: 29,322 units), slips to No. 5 in the e-2W OEM market and gives it a market share of 7% for last month. As per Vahan statistics, this is the lowest monthly retail sales for Ola in the current year to date after February 2025 (8,673 units).

The company, which manufactures and sells both e-scooters and e-motorcycles, had opened CY2025 with 24,411 units in January, which remains its highest monthly sales in the year to date. Ola’s cumulative 11-month retail sales (190,088 units) from January to end-November 2025 at 190,088 units are far fewer than TVS (272,874 units) or Bajaj Auto (250,366 units) and just 6,925 e-2Ws more than Ather Energy (183,163 units) in the same period. Clearly, Ola Electric will have to come up with an aggressive sales and product strategy if it is to regain the vigour and shine it had displayed not very long ago as the e-2W market leader.

Greaves Electric Mobility (GEM), the EV arm of Greaves Cotton which markets the Ampere brand of e-scooters, remains the firm No. 6 on the OEM ranking list with retails of 5,763 units and a 5% market share. This is GEM’s second highest monthly score this year after October (7,632 units). GEM and Ampere Vehicles, which are witnessing a revival of demand driven by new products like the Nexus, Magnus Neo and the Grand, recently surpassed cumulative retail sales of 250,000 units.

Bgauss Auto, a Mumbai-based startup spawned by electrical solutions major RR Kabel, is ranked seventh amongst the Top 10 e-2W OEMs. Bgauss sold 2,566 units of its e-2Ws comprising the RUV 350 and Max C12 in November.

VinFast to launch electric 2-wheeler in India in 2026

Vietnamese electric vehicle maker VinFast, which started selling its cars in India this year, plans to enter India’s electric two-wheeler market as well in the second quarter of the financial year 2026. This entry is expected to boost the competition in the growing electric scooter market here, which is dominated by domestic players such as TVS Motor, Bajaj Auto, Ather Energy and Ola Electric.

“We believe that the Indian market has huge potential for electric two-wheelers. We have a plan to launch two-wheelers in India in 2026,” VinFast Asia Chief Executive Officer Pham Sanh Chau said. The automaker currently sells more than six electric scooter models, including Evo, Feliz, Klara and Vero, across South Asia, and a couple of these will likely be the first set of products to be launched in India.

Chau noted that VinFast is working with the team and channel partners in India to understand the market and requirements, and a feasibility study is underway. “We are in the process of collecting inputs and feedback to launch our two-wheelers in India.”

VinFast started selling electric cars in India in September with two models - the VF 6 and VF 7 - and has around 26 dealerships. Many of these dealerships, Chau said, have shown interest in selling the company’s two-wheelers. ”Many of the current dealers have expressed their keen interest in becoming a dealer for two-wheelers,” he said.

The automaker also has plans to launch its electric buses in India, likely next year. Chau noted that the company is in talks with State Transport undertakings of various states such as Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Telangana to secure orders of its buses.

VinFast has already announced plans to invest $2 billion (around Rs 16,000 crore) in India, of which $500 million has been invested to set a production plant in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. The plant currently has an annual capacity of 50,000 electric cars, which is expandable to 150,000 cars. The management did not disclose details of the investment and manufacturing for electric two-wheelers and buses.

While the company could be selling locally manufactured electric two-wheelers from the beginning, it is initially likely to introduce its buses as Completely Knocked Down (CKD) or Completely Built Units (CBU).

Karnataka High Court Rules in Favour of Boman Irani in YEZDI Trademark Dispute

The Karnataka High Court's Division Bench has ruled in favour of Boman Irani, co-founder of Classic Legends, affirming his ownership of the YEZDI motorcycle trademark. The judgment, delivered on 27 November 2025, overturns an earlier Single Judge ruling and marks a significant development in India's intellectual property rights landscape.

The court observed that Ideal Jawa, the previous manufacturer, had abandoned the trademark after ceasing production in 1996 and entering liquidation in 2001. The company failed to renew trademark registrations and made no efforts to protect the brand for over 15 years, leading the court to conclude that any associated goodwill had been extinguished.

In contrast, the court noted that Irani proactively worked to revive the brand and lawfully acquired trademark registrations in 2013-14. He subsequently partnered with Anupam Thareja and the Mahindra Group to establish Classic Legends in 2015, with the objective of reviving India's heritage motorcycle brands.

The YEZDI brand has historical significance for Irani's family. Following the cessation of Jawa's original licensing agreement with Ideal Jawa in 1969, Irani's father created the YEZDI insignia, establishing what became one of India's original motorcycle brands. The name derives from the Persian word for wind.

The judgment emphasized several key principles regarding trademark law. The court stated that common-law rights for trademarks exist only through continued use, and that trademarks, as intangible rights, depend on active use and renewal rather than persisting like physical property. The court also determined that debts owed to a company in liquidation cannot be equated with trademark value.

Classic Legends, now a Mahindra Group company, manufactures motorcycles under the YEZDI, Jawa, and BSA brands. The court dismissed all pending applications and allowed all appeals filed by Irani and Classic Legends.

Following the verdict, Irani stated the ruling reaffirms that efforts to preserve heritage brands through lawful means are recognized by the judicial system. Anand Mahindra, Chairman of Mahindra Group, described the judgment as one that will influence future intellectual property disputes in India, while co-founder Anupam Thareja expressed confidence in the Indian judicial system.

The decision sets a precedent for disputes involving legacy brands and underscores the requirement for active stewardship in maintaining trademark rights.

myTVS Targets 30-40% Annual Growth, Poised to Turn PBT Positive

Automotive service provider myTVS expects to close the current financial year with revenues of about ₹2,100 crore and aims to sustain annual growth of 30-40% over the next few years, Managing Director G. Srinivasa Raghavan said. The company has grown at a CAGR of 35-40% in the last four years and is “fairly confident” of maintaining the momentum.

Raghavan said myTVS has turned EBITDA-profitable within five years of its digital platform launch, making it “one of the fastest digital mobility platforms” to achieve this milestone. He added that the company expects to turn profit-before-tax positive in the next few quarters.

The company’s profitability has been driven largely by its service subscription model, Raghavan said. “EBITDA profitability is driven by personal passenger car service subscriptions, which have added in both direct and indirect ways to the ecosystem.”

The company’s fleet business has also begun to grow, especially in the commercial vehicle segment, where myTVS takes over fleet-owned garages and provides 24x7 asset management and parts support. “An average fleet owns between 50 and 250 vehicles. We manage their garage operations round the clock and provide parts at their location. This is now adding to our growth because these dark stores act as very effective,” Raghavan said.

The company now operates over 2,200 service touchpoints, including 1,100+ myTVS multi-brand service centres. It targets 2,500 multi-brand outlets by 2027, which would make it the second-largest service network after Maruti Suzuki.

Raghavan said myTVS is expanding across all service categories, including maintenance, collision repair, roadside assistance, emergency support, claims management, EV servicing and even vehicle valuation. “We are delivering the widest range of services digitally and through the offline world, becoming a single window for a fleet owner or garage owner,” he said.

A major part of this scale-up is driven by its quick commerce strategy for spare parts. Raghavan said the company will cross 100 dark stores by March 2025 and expand to 250 dark stores by next year.

“Our definition of quick commerce is different from other platforms. For us, it is about delivering parts to garages within two to four hours,” he said. Garages can place orders through WhatsApp, phone call, or the myTVS parts app. The company offers a full range of parts–consumption, repair and body. By March 2027, it aims to cover 8,000-10,000 pin codes through this network.

myTVS is also preparing for a global expansion. Raghavan confirmed that the company plans to launch commercial operations in Africa and the Middle East. This will follow its entry in the UAE.

The company reached 10 million active passenger car service subscriptions last month. Raghavan said this reflects the shift toward digital aftermarket services in India. “Around 18-20% of car owners have bought a subscription directly or through our ecosystem partners. That is a significant milestone for a five-year-old platform,” he said.

The myTVS platform today links more than 20 vehicle manufacturers, 100 parts makers, 15 finance companies, 15 insurance firms and 10 last-mile EV startups. All of them use the platform for parts supply, diagnostics, collision repair, claims management and service delivery. “We have services in over 200 towns. By next year, we will reach 600,” Raghavan said.

myTVS is part of TVS Mobility, the $3-billion mobility ecosystem of the T. S. Rajam branch of the TVS family, with businesses in distribution, supply chain, services, tyres and rubber manufacturing.

The Royal Enfield Bullet 650 marks the expansion of the company’s long-running Bullet lineup into the mid-capacity segment. Powered by a 648cc parallel-twin engine from the 650 Twin platform, the motorcycle is positioned as a larger, more highway-capable evolution of the classic Bullet.

With this model, Royal Enfield aims to offer riders a familiar design paired with a stronger engine, appealing to those who want a retro-style motorcycle with greater performance for touring and daily use.

The event’s production and on-ground execution were managed by The Pittch, which served as the official production partner.

The Pittch handled planning, layout coordination, vendor management, and operational challenges related to the terrain and venue. The firm collaborated closely with Royal Enfield from the pre-event phase through the three-day festival.

Motoverse 2025 covered about 40,000 sq. metres and drew close to 40,000 attendees. The festival included rides, races, workshops, and performances. The venue also featured merchandise stalls, gear displays, and food areas offering local and regional cuisine.

Motoreel sessions featured speakers such as Jonty Rhodes, Nick Sanders, Vanessa Ruck, Freddie Spencer, and members of Monk and the Warriors. Their talks focused on long-distance travel, endurance, and personal experiences from the road.

Motoville displayed artworks selected from more than 51,000 global submissions representing 12 countries, centred on the theme “Cine-Verse.” Workshops in the Motovillage space covered subjects including self-defence, coffee brewing, pottery, art, and motorcycle maintenance.

The music segment, Motosonic, was headlined by DJ and producer Diplo, who arrived on stage riding a Himalayan 450. Performances by Hanumankind, Euphoria, Parvaaz, The Yellow Diary, MIDIval Punditz, Kutle Khan with Karsh Kale, and Thaikuddam Bridge were spread across the event.

The UV Space Stations combine retail and service operations, offering test rides, sales, maintenance, spare parts, and accessories. Customers can explore Ultraviolette's motorcycle lineup, including the X-47, F77 MACH 2, and F77 SuperStreet models.

Narayan Subramaniam, CEO and Co-founder of Ultraviolette, emphasized the company's focus on integrating sales and service operations. The facilities are designed to provide customers with support throughout the ownership experience, from initial purchase through maintenance.

Kaushik Kothari, Partner at KHV Mobility, noted the alignment between the dealership group's growth strategy and Ultraviolette's engineering approach. The Kothari Group brings over ten decades of business experience across multiple sectors, including five decades in automotive dealerships.

Ultraviolette's motorcycles feature a powertrain delivering 40.2 horsepower and 100 Nm of torque, with acceleration from zero to 60 kilometers per hour in 2.8 seconds. The 10.3 kWh battery provides a range of 323 kilometers on a single charge under IDC testing conditions.

The motorcycles include a three-level traction control system, ten levels of regenerative braking, and Dynamic Stability Control. The X-47 model incorporates UV Radar Intelligence with Advanced Rider Assistance System capabilities, including blind spot detection, lane change assist, overtake alert, and rear collision warning.

Earlier in 2025, Ultraviolette introduced the Tesseract electric scooter with integrated radar and dashcam, and the Shockwave electric motorcycle. The company was founded in 2016 by Narayan Subramaniam and Niraj Rajmohan, with backing from investors including Lingotto, Qualcomm Ventures, Zoho Corporation, TVS Motors, TDK Ventures, and Speciale Invest.

The six new locations are now operational and accepting customers for test rides and purchases.
